Experience Europe through Venice Piazza
written on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 @ 11:07 PM ?

One of my favorite places at the moment in the Philippines has to be at the McKinley Hill. The place where I normally relax and think happy thoughts would be at Venice Piazza. McKinley has an image of the lifestyle of the rich and famous. The scene is relaxing and has a rich atmosphere with a European style motif.

My P185 orange juice at Blackwood, Venice Piazza
Everything seems to be close by with two 7/11 around the corner with a Starbucks, Pancake house and 24/7 McDonald's fast food area close by. I should not forget the banks like Bank of the Philippine Islands along with LBC just a couple of blocks away. The place is invaded with call centers but the route is easy since there isn't any traffic unless it experiences a heavy or has a run in with the morning or evening rush hour.

Me at Venice Piazza, March 15, 2011

Venice Piazza would be the place to be and relax. It has almost restaurant and every fast food that almost anyone from any class would desire. It even has a small bazaar close by the area and a live band at the middle of the Piazza. The band or show would depend on the occasion.

Transportation would not be an issue since there are buses, vans and jeepney's available. It is recommended that you bring your own transportation to experience McKinley Hill since parking would not be an issue since it has there 24/7 car park building. I would certainly suggest McKinley Hill to any one who might want to experience the European lifestyle or to enjoy the weekend off. Let the Euro trip begin!

Chill out at Market! Market! and Serendra
written on @ 7:12 PM ?

Are you a classy person and prefer to be in a classy mall and not the typical SM Malls? I would suggest Market! Market! In my opinion, that would be a classy mall which is fun for friends and family. Now you’re probably thinking is this a food stall or something? Was I wrong!

Breakdancing in front of T.G.I Friday's
The place is great for tourists where people are greeted with different stalls from all over the Philippine islands along with a high water fountain. The water fountain seems to be a hit for the kids. The mall also has a series of places to enjoy as well as restaurants along with other bars and small stalls. In my opinion, it has a great outdoor look!

If you have fancy taste, then I would suggest Serenda which is couple of blocks away from Market Market. It's a classy area with restaurants from around the world. It is similar to Resorts World but has more of an outdoor scenario. Serendra seems to be big hit among tourists and people from the province alike.

I personally like strolling down Bonifacio High Street. I decided to have a little fun and started to breakdance where I had onlookers who were curious.

Serendra also has the best Starbucks window scene that I have been to in the Philippines with less people and great coffee! I had a great time visiting the place. Serendra is just perfect to have a nice quiet walk. In my opinion, this place is just perfect for couples and for people who would want to work out. Enjoy!

Reunion at Hooters Philippines!
written on @ 6:04 PM ?

Rob and I at Hooters Philippines, July 4, 2010
There is nothing in this world that I love the most then my family and friends. Since I barely seen anyone of them, reunions mean the world to me especially when one of my closest friends comes over to the Philippines! A good friend of mine, Rob was coming down to the Philippines for vacation and I was excited. I haven't seen Rob since Dubai and that was 2 years ago. The last time I saw him was at my place back in Karama, Dubai, of the U.A.E.

Rob and Stephanie
It was on July 4, 2010 when I met up with Rob and that was at SM Makati. It was great to see him again and I have to say that I miss my friends back in Dubai. He came over with a friend Stephanie while I met up with Alou as well. We all decided to head to the Mall of Asia. I figured that he should try something new. Something he never experienced in Dubai.

Rob at the bar of Hooters Philippines

I decided to take him to seaside to the famous Hooters. I tried Hooters in California and Arizona but never Hooters Philippines so it was a first for me as well. I introduced him to the famous hot wings but he admits me that the ladies at Hooters are not the same Hooters girls like in the states. I can't say I blame him! =)

We had a great meal and a good time. We also had a good chat with Stephanie and Alou. Rob had to admit that Hooters was a great place along with its famous bar, along with it's basketball hoop at the entrance. I should have recommended to Rob was to get a Hooters shirt as a memory. We did have fun watching UFC on the flat screen.

It was time to go home and I have to admit that I was sad that the night had to end so soon. We dropped the girls home and drove home. We had a few drinks and chilled out at the gas station close to the coastal road. We gave each other advice and hope to see a bright future ahead of us. It turned out to be a great night and I can't wait for another reunion with another Dubayan! We'll have our next reunion at Hooters Philippines when you arrive on April, 2011!!!

Meeting with Quest Crew at Resorts World Manila
written on @ 2:54 PM ?

I love nothing more than travel and visiting places. I personally love to visit new countries and places. Since I am in the Philippines, visiting countries is not the option. It was my regular my day at work when my one of my best friends or should I say brothers told me something that would shake up my world! He just said, "Bro, Have you heard?  Quest Crew is coming to the Philippines! I was not really paying attention to a word he was saying but the moment he mentioned Quest Crew my mind just blew away! I just said, "For real?" I needed to find out the venue and I found out that the venue was at Resorts World Manila.

I never heard of Resorts World so it was going to be a challenge for me since I was coming from Makati on a Friday night. On a Friday night, I would personally recommend not to take the bus, MRT, LRT or jeepney. Friday nights in the Philippines is the time to relax and party. Imagine the traffic jam that I face every day! I have been through traffic jams in Dubai, and I should say that the traffic jam in the Philippines is the worse that I have ever experienced.

I took a cab and took the Super highway as Rye suggested me to but I ended up getting lost and ended up at Ninoy Aquino Airport, Terminal 3. I was wondering why would Quest Crew wanted to dance in an airport? I knew they wanted to go all out but not out of the country. It was then I realized that I was at the wrong venue and that Resorts World was close to Terminal 3. I took another cab and I found my way to Resorts World. Resorts World blew my mind way. It was one of those fancy malls just like they had in Dubai and in Scottsdale. I felt like I was right at home! I was early so I decided to get ready, and I got two Quest Crew shirts for me and my brother.

I met Rye at the entrance and we managed to get the best seats in the house. The show started off well with the Philippine All Star and friends. This was followed by Amber Davis and Young JV if I remember correctly. Amber Davis blew my mind away when she sang her hit single "Ain't a crime". It was then when Quest Crew jumped onto the stage.

Now you're probably wondering why I am a big fan of Quest Crew. Dancing is a passion for most of my friends and it flows down my veins as well. Quest Crew are the Season 3 America's Best Dance Crew Winners and in my opinion, I think that they would destroy any crew in the world including the world famous Jabbawockeez.

Rye and I  with Quest Crew at Resorts World Manila, December 4 ,2010
Quest Crew destroyed the stage! Their amazing footwork, popping, locking, cutting, steps breakdancing and flips blew everyone mind away at Resort World! They were nice guys and they knew how to play with the crowd. It was the meet and greet with Quest Crew but unfortunately we were not allowed to bring our cameras on to the stage.
Steve Terada of Quest Crew, December 4, 2010

It was then when I and Rye met Quest Crew. They were real nice guys but I towered over them except Quest Crew member Brian. We had a good chat and we took a picture with them. I felt it was not enough, so I jumped over the railing and asked for Steve for a picture. He was a real nice guy and said, "We're not allowed over the railing but sure! This picture I would cherish and it was a meeting of a legend.

Rye and me then ended up at the Total gas station and once again reminisce about old times and talked about the Quest Crew performance. It was time to end the night and I said, "Next time bro". As usual, there was always a next time.

If you would like to see a sample of Quest Crew, click on the video below and check out their performance that would them  as the America's Best Dance Crew Winner Season 3

Billiards? Try it at Marbles in Las Pinas City!
written on @ 11:56 AM ?

Me at Marbles, Las Pinas City
Are you new to the Philippines? Well, if you're from Dubai, you're bound to play billiards once in a while. Last time, I played billiards was at the bowling center in Gilbert in Arizona. This time, I wanted to played billiards and the place that I keep hearing about is Marbles in Las Pinas City. I did not want to play billiards alone so I invited my good friend Rye and the night began on June 19, 2010.

Marbles is a great place to relax and play billiards especially during the weekends. If your looking for a quiet place to relax with your friends or you happened to be on a date, then Marbles is the place to be. On a weekend, it's usually crowded. Unlike the billiard halls in Dubai, the billiards halls in the Philippines are top notch in my opinion.

Rye's birthday June 22, 2010 at Marbles
Me at Marbles on a weekend, Las Pinas City
Unlike many billiard halls, Marbles has their mini club hall, with a bar at the side. If you're looking to get cozy and sing the night away, they have their own private karaoke area. I guess the best part about Marbles is that the prices are reasonable. It's cheaper if you plan to go as a group, and they have a wide selection of alcoholic drinks with great food.

While me and Rye had the time of our lives in the Philippines, we had a few great times at Marbles. We celebrated Rye's birthday at Marbles on June 22, 2010. It was a great moment as we realized how much older and wiser we have become compared to the naive minds that we had back in Dubai. Marbles is a great place to talk, chill and reminisce. So what shall it be? 8 ball or 9 ball?
