Enjoy the Christian atmosphere at Kamay Ni Hesus

Kamy Ni Hesus, Lucban, Quezon Province
I have to say that my mom is from Tayabas, Quezon Province, and I love to know more about my roots. I'm a history buff so I would love to know where I came from. I decided to visit Tayabas and my cousin suggested that I should visit the Pride of Quezon Province which is "Kamay Ni Hesus" or "Grotto" as it is commonly known.

I took my car along with my cousin and his friends to Lucban. Word of advice, I suggest that if you're a newbie, it is advisable to drive during the day since there aren't any lights along the way if you plan to travel at night. Besides, it's beautiful to drive during the day at the province! We reached the shrine around 12 noon and I was first intrigued by the tiles of inscriptions written on the floor from people all over the world. The latest tile was from a family from San Francisco, U.S.A. Kamay Ni Jesus, is like a visitor nesting ground for religious tourist and it also gives a brief history about Christianity.

The place has its own blast to the past scene where we had to walk the long flight of stairs to reach the top to see the huge monument of Jesus. I thought why would anyone want to build a statue of Jesus on top of the hill anyway? Were people that lazy to build the statue below the hill? I then realized the flight stairs gives an idea that's it a walk to heaven. It's a walk to meeting our savior Jesus Christ.

On our journey to the top of the hill, we encountered history along the way and what Christianity was all about. We did take a lot of pictures even though there was a sign that clearly says, " Do not upload the pictures on Facebook". I figured that it would be no harm by sharing it online since I am spreading the love of Christianity and showing where a part of me came from.

In the end, we reached the top of the shrine and I have to say it has a breathtaking view from the top where we could see the outskirts of Lucban. I felt relax, and I said to myself, "they clearly don't have this in Manila"! We did buy some souvenirs but it soon started to rain. I had fun and I intend to visit the shrine again on my next visit to Lucban. Praise the Lord!
